Ever wanted to be an actor or "NPC" for a RenFaire, but don't know where to start? Or have you always wanted to do more street cast work but wished there were professional options? We got you covered!

What is Cast?

Cast or "Street Cast" is the group of performers who create characters and acts specifically made for a particular festival. So this does NOT refer to the entertainment shows that travel to many other festivals. Please see the Entertainment tab for those shows. An example of a cast member is the King/Queen and their royal court at a RenFaire. Every cast member is directed by one person (or team) and works together to bring a festival to life.

Our goal is to one day have one of the most extensive and involved street casts on the RenFaire circuit. Cast members will provide quests, act out scenes and play music in the lanes, announce stage show times, and some will even have their own stage shows.

We will have two types of Cast that you can be a part of, Low Responsibility Cast and High Responsibility Cast. If you want to join Cast, it is important that you familiarize yourself with these options so you can decide which is best for you. More information below.

What's the difference between Low Responsibility Cast (LRC) and High Responsibility Cast (HRC)?

LRC - A good option for hobbiests:
-Low performance responsibility
-Inclusive (most cast will be LRC)
-Easier to join
-No guaranteed pay (this will change in the future)
-More freedom with character development
-Improv/character development training is optional

HRC - A good option for Professionals:
-Higher performance responsibility
-Exclusive (very limited spots available)
-Harder to join
-Guaranteed pay
-Less freedom with character development
-Rehearsals are mandatory

All Cast will still have to follow the Cross Realm Events Guidelines for Performance.

Performance Guidelines and Expectations

All Performers must either create a new character or adjust pre-existing characters to fit into the world of Cross Realm Events. Please look over the Lore Section for more information about our universe. Adjusting a character to fit is pretty easy as we will not be strict about being 100% lore accurate. We just want your character to fit the over all medieval fantasy vibe and have a very basic understanding of how the universe works. We do not expect you to be a Cross Realm Events Lore expert and will allow you to improv your way through any lore questions a patron may ask you. You're more than welcome to play an original character from a D&D session, video game, or even a character at another festival, as long as you're using your own created character (for legal purposes) and are prepared to make a few tweaks.

For example, our universe does not have D&D Tieflings, but we do have Drakyn (Dragon Folk) who look almost identical to Tieflings. So if you already have a Tiefling costume, you could easily adjust your character to be a Drakyn instead.

All Performers will be responsible for providing their own garb (costumes) and props, but this also means you get to keep your outfits and take them to other events if you wish. We will have a costume director to help you build, purchase, or adjust your outfits to fit our guidelines.

While contracted as a performer for Cross Realm Events, you must positively represent our brand. This means no criminal activity or inappropriate behavior will be tolerated at our events. Please read our Policies page for more in-depth info about our overall rules.

Every performer will sign a consent form to allow all photographs and videos to capture their image while performing, as well as allow their name and image to be used in promotional material for that event.

Bullying, Gossip, and Harassment

We have very strict rules regarding drama for all participants of our events. Any disputes between participants MUST be handled professionally. If you have any concerns and cannot work things out with someone else, please immediately contact one of the producers or the designated manager. All reports will be taken seriously and investigated. You may NOT, I repeat, NOT go around spreading (out-of-game) gossip about your fellow participants both in person and online. Any posts made anonymously in which contents involve bullying another participant will be thoroughly investigated with the group page admin and potentially law enforcement. Any participant caught with a pattern of such abuse will be completely banned from all of our events indefinitely.

We will have an in-game gossip system where characters may gossip to patrons about other characters. All registered gossip must be made by the participating character and consent must be renewed every season.

Races Guide for Cast

We want our non-human races to look and act like those races, not just appear to be humans wearing a costume. We want to "WOW" our audience and make them feel like they really are in the world of Cross Realm Faire.
